To All,

Although I have not read the complete text as I just receive the book a few days ago I can say that I am very enthused so far and have devoured a good deal of Jeanette Wright's "THE ART OF ATTENTION: CHRONICLES OF AN IMAGERY-ORIENTED PSYCHOTHERAPIST"

Having been educated by at least one of her personable presentations at the conferences I expected a quality text but have been more than pleasantly surprised so far.

I have, found it personable , of course professionally oriented but yet again so personal and at some level popularly assessable . In a way it defies, a bit, classification. I think this is what Tomkin's theory invites, when applied in it's fullest. I think I try and achieve this in my therapy but fail to achieve in my writing. Jeanette achieves it so well in hers.

I think she does so due to her long and fruitful journey with, and understanding of ,"image". This idea of "image" has intrigued me from the beginning of my studies but has been quite elusive. Jeanette does us all a great favor and makes it so much more approachable.

Technically I like a lot about the presentation of the book such as it's size which is a bit oversized with large text, and the color plates make the book really come alive. All of it makes it very inviting and easy to read for material that might be off-putting for many and gives it the feel of an art book, which in many was it is.

I have already used some of the material in several settings. I particularly have liked, so far, "Creative Doubt" and the accompanying letter and her explication on distress.

Most importantly, they say "write what you know" and I think she certainly has. Thank you Jeanette.

I look forward to spending much more time with this book and the next volumes.

Brian
